Introduction to Shipping

Most online retailers charge some form of shipping fee to recover their shipping costs. While you don't want to lose money on shipping, you also don't want to lose a customer because of high shipping costs. This requires flexible shipping options - which you'll get with NextTree!

Third Party Integration

Canada Post, UPS and many others offer free shipping rate integration that gives your customers an accurate shipping quote based on the order weight and dimensions.

The benefit of this setup is that you'll never lose money on shipping (in theory). However many businesses don't use third-party integration because the quotes are typically higher than what the customer might get elsewhere.

Flat Rate or Regional Flat Rates

The flat rate model works well if all of your products are about the same size and your customers typically order the same amount.

Example 1: Flat rate shipping across Canada

Example 2: Flat rate shipping divided into Regions

Tiered Regional Rate Tables

This type of shipping setup gives you more control. It can be subdivided based on the order total or order weight and on the regions being shipped to.

	$20.01 to $50.00	$10.00
	$50.01 to $100.00	$25.00

	1.00 to 5.00 lbs	$18.00
	5.01 lbs or more	$28.00

Free Shipping

Many businesses offer Free Shipping if the customer purchases a specified amount. This is a good marketing strategy to increase your revenue per order.

Example: Free shipping on orders over $100!
